The submission deadline is upcoming: all final proposals must be received by February 29. Out of all submissions, twenty finalists will be selected until March 15th. A Pre-selection Committee – composed of professionals and experts from industry and academia – selects the participants.

TopazĀ® NFC Forum mandated13.56MHz , ISO 14443A, 96 bytes read/write NFC/RFID tags are available for NFC Competition entrants in sample quantities from Innovision Research and Technology plc in a variety of formats:

Topaz Square labels, Product ID: TPZ-503-002, Dimensions: 38 x 38 mm
Topaz Circular Label, Product ID: TPZ-504-002, Diameter: 30 mm circle
Topaz features a 96 Byte memory able to support multiple NFC applications, NFC data encapsulation format and OTP counters, and collision detection.

We have extended the submission deadline for Touching the Future: NFC Forum Global Competition to February 29, 2008. The new deadline allows an additional two weeks for competition entrants to develop and submit final proposals.

The NFC Forum www.nfc-forum.org, a non-profit industry association that advances the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, today announced the call for entries for Touching the Future: NFC Forum Global Competition.
In the competition, developers in the commercial track vie for the honor of having their solutions named “The Best NFC Service of the Year 2008,” while a research track recognizes “The Most Innovative NFC Research Project of the Year 2008″
The competition’s Organizing Committee is now accepting submissions; all final proposals must be received by February 15, 2008. Twenty finalists will be judged on April 29, 2008 at the NFC Developers Summit, held in Monaco during the WIMA event www.wima.mc. The winners will be selected by a jury composed of professionals and experts from sponsoring companies.
